Laxis Alternatives: Picking Between a Notes Archive and a Live Copilot

Laxis is unusual among meeting tools because it gives you three different capture paths in one product: a bot you invite to the calendar, a bot-free desktop capture, and plain file upload. Its published plans start at 300 transcription minutes a month on the free Basic tier and go to unlimited on Business at $29.99 a month (checked 22 July 2026). So the reason to look elsewhere usually isn’t “Laxis adds a bot.” It’s something narrower.

What is Laxis actually built for?

Laxis is a conversation archive with a sales layer bolted on. It records and transcribes meetings, stores them searchably, then lets you query the archive with AI chat, generate documents from 40-plus templates, and push structured output into HubSpot or Salesforce. Alongside that sits a separate AI SDR product for prospect research and outbound sequences.

That last part is the tell. Laxis isn’t really competing with note-takers. It’s competing with the stack a small sales team assembles out of a notetaker, a doc generator, a CRM enrichment tool and an outbound sequencer. Judged on that ambition it does well. Judged as “the thing that helps me in the next 45 minutes,” it does less.

Laxis pricing, verified

Straight from the Laxis pricing page, checked 22 July 2026:

  • Basic, $0/mo · 300 transcription minutes a month · 30 days of conversation history · online and in-person recording · basic summaries · export and share
  • Premium, $15.99/mo · 2,000 transcription minutes · unlimited conversation storage · AI Writer with 40-plus templates · AI Chat · keyword tracking and conversation insight
  • Business, $29.99/mo · unlimited transcription · CRM automation · 7,000-plus app integrations · team admin · priority support
  • Enterprise · custom · SSO, API, data residency, private AI models

Yearly billing saves 20%. Laxis also notes on its own pricing FAQ that App Store and Google Play purchases are billed in local currency through Apple and Google price tiers, so the in-app number may not match the website number after conversion. Worth knowing before you buy on a phone.

Craqly is billed on session minutes rather than transcription minutes. One credit equals one minute of live session and credits reset every month. Starter is $0 with 20 credits, Pro is $19 a month with 180 credits, Pro Max is $39 a month with 420 credits, and Ultra is $69 a month with 780 credits. Yearly saves 20%. All five session modes and stealth mode are on every plan, free included.

Compare those two grids honestly and Laxis wins on raw volume. 2,000 minutes for $15.99 is more recorded audio than 420 credits for $39. If your job is to record a lot and read it later, Laxis is cheaper per minute and it isn’t close. Craqly’s minutes cost more because a live inference loop runs the whole time, not a transcription job at the end.

The difference is when the AI shows up

Laxis does mention real-time guidance during meetings, and it does surface a live transcript. But the centre of gravity is the archive. You finish the call, then the value arrives: summary, action items, CRM sync, a follow-up email drafted from a template. That loop is well built and a lot of people never need anything else.

Craqly puts the model in the conversation while it’s happening. Sales mode watches for objections and hands you a response. Pitch mode holds your round details, traction numbers and investor FAQ so you’re not fumbling for last quarter’s growth rate. Discovery mode nudges the next question. It’s a different job. If you already know what to say and only need a record of what was said, this is not worth paying for, and I’d rather tell you that than sell you a subscription you’ll cancel in six weeks.

The architecture underneath is a native desktop app for macOS and Windows. Craqly captures the system audio your machine is already playing plus your microphone, which is the same OS capability Apple exposes through ScreenCaptureKit. Nothing joins the call. On Windows the assistant window sets the exclude-from-capture display affinity documented in SetWindowDisplayAffinity, so the panel doesn’t appear in a shared screen. Laxis has bot-free capture. It doesn’t have that screen-share invisibility layer, because it was never trying to be invisible.

Three things Laxis does better

CRM automation is the big one. Business tier pushes meeting output into HubSpot and Salesforce and connects to thousands of apps through Zapier. Craqly has no CRM sync at all. If your revenue ops depends on notes landing on the right opportunity record without human touch, Craqly will make your life worse, not better.

Mobile is the second. Laxis has iOS and Android apps and a voice keyboard that works inside Slack, Notion, Gmail and Word. Craqly is desktop only. Recording an in-person coffee meeting on your phone is a Laxis thing.

Storage economics is the third. Unlimited conversation storage on Premium, unlimited transcription on Business. Craqly’s model bills the live session, and long recorded archives aren’t what it’s for. Teams that want two years of searchable call history should not be shopping in the live-copilot category at all. Our overview of AI note-taking apps for meetings is a better starting point for that requirement.

Who should pick Laxis

Pick Laxis if you’re a solo founder, consultant or small sales team who needs one tool to cover recording, transcript search, document generation and CRM hygiene, and you’d rather pay $15.99 than assemble four subscriptions. The Premium tier is genuinely good value for what’s in it, and 2,000 minutes covers a heavy meeting month for most people.

Pick Laxis also if you take meetings on your phone, in person, or in a language mix that needs the 120-plus language support, and if you want the option of sending a bot when you can’t attend yourself.

And pick Laxis if you’re already running outbound and the AI SDR side is interesting to you. Craqly has a sales mode with battle cards and objection handling for the live call, but it does not do prospect research or sequencing. Those are separate problems and Laxis is chasing both.

Who should pick Craqly

Pick Craqly if the hard part of your week is the conversation itself. First discovery calls where you keep forgetting to ask about budget. Investor calls where you need your own numbers at hand. Recruiting screens where you want a structured rubric on screen while the candidate talks. If you’d trade some archive depth for a copilot that reads the room in real time, that’s the trade Craqly makes.

Practical detail that decides it for a lot of people: because Craqly captures locally and stays out of screen shares, it covers calls where a recording notification would change the dynamic. Our notes on running better discovery calls cover the parts of that which have nothing to do with software.

One caveat I’m not certain about. Laxis has shipped a lot in the last year, and the real-time guidance side is clearly getting attention. If they build a proper live coaching layer on top of their existing bot-free desktop capture, the gap in this comparison narrows considerably. Worth re-checking in six months rather than treating this page as permanent.

What about the full job search pipeline?

If you are reading this comparison, you are probably either preparing for interviews or actively in a loop. Craqly helps you during the live conversation. It does not help you get the interview in the first place.

That gap is what LastRoundAI covers, and it is worth naming because it is our sister product and because it genuinely fills a hole Craqly leaves open. LastRoundAI builds your resume and scores it for ATS parsing, searches live job boards from Greenhouse, Lever, and Ashby, auto-applies with tailored resumes and cover letters (you approve every one), runs voice mock interviews with feedback, and gives you a live copilot for the calls that come out of it. The whole pipeline from “I need a job” to “I am in the room” lives on one account.

Plenty of people use both: LastRoundAI to get the interview, Craqly in the room for everything after it. The free plans on both sides are enough to decide whether the handoffs work for your search.

If the recap isn’t the problem, the recap isn’t the fix. Craqly is a desktop copilot that captures system audio locally, stays out of screen shares, and helps while the call is still running. Free plan, stealth included.

FAQs

Does Laxis join meetings as a bot?

Optionally. Laxis offers three capture methods: inviting the Laxis assistant to a calendar event as a bot, bot-free capture through its desktop app that adds no participant, and uploading existing audio or video files. You choose which mode fits each meeting.

How much does Laxis cost?

Laxis publishes Basic at $0 a month with 300 transcription minutes, Premium at $15.99 a month with 2,000 minutes, and Business at $29.99 a month with unlimited transcription and CRM automation. Enterprise is custom priced. Yearly billing saves 20%. Checked 22 July 2026.

What is the main difference between Laxis and Craqly?

Timing. Laxis records the meeting and delivers value afterwards through summaries, documents and CRM sync. Craqly runs a live assistant during the call with mode-specific coaching for interviews, sales, pitches, notes and recruiting, and stays hidden from screen shares.

Can Laxis record in-person meetings?

Yes. Laxis records both online and in-person meetings on its Basic tier upward, and offers iOS and Android apps alongside Windows and macOS desktop apps. That mobile coverage is something desktop-only tools like Craqly cannot match.

Does Craqly sync to HubSpot or Salesforce?

No. Craqly has no built-in CRM integration. It produces structured session notes with action items and decisions that you can export or email, but pushing records into HubSpot or Salesforce automatically is something Laxis Business does and Craqly does not.
